We hope you had a very Happy Fourth of July. It’s important during this holiday that we take stock of the reasons we are free. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank those that are serving in the US Armed Forces, and for their dedication and commitment which enable the rest of us to enjoy our freedoms.
You may have noticed a plethora of new options and features here at rannv.org! First you'll notice the new calendar feature on our home page as well as under the government affairs link. This will fill you on events we think you should know about. Second you'll notice a new poll feature on the home page as well. This will change once a week and will give you and us an idea on what the business community thinks about a particular topic. With your interaction we can make the Nevada business community a bigger force in and out of government!
With the closure of the 24th Special Session of the Nevada Legislature, which took place on June 27th, 2008, the Retail Association of Nevada was once again able to protect business from a new tax that was discussed by some Democratic members of the Assembly. However, this special session is considered by some to be a preview of the 2009 Legislative Session that will be taking place from February to June of 2009.
RAN continues to gear up for the issues that are likely to present themselves in the next Legislative Session. Taxes, the price of gas, and the continuation of the downward economy are likely to be the hot topics when the Legislature convenes. If you have any issues you would like to discuss for the 2009 Legislative Session please call us. Also you can begin to view the Bill Draft Requests that are being submitted to the Legislative Council for review and transformation into bills by visiting the Legislative Webpage at our important links section.
Please check back with our website for new information which will be posted as it becomes available.
